2008 NEW ENGLAND PRESS AWARD

Last night, February 7, 2009 I was awarded the New England Press Association Award for Best Illustration of 2008, in a Daily Class 1 Newspaper. The award was for my 2008 World Champion Boston Celtics Illustration that ran as the front page the day after the championship! This is the same illustration many of you bought in poster form that was printed up by the Daily Times Chronicle of Reading and Woburn, Massachusetts.
It was such a great night, receiving this honor from my Journalist peers. And having my Daughter  with me was the best part!
She is a journalism major in high school and plans a career in Broadcast journalism when she attends college. So she enjoyed attending the dinner held at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel very much!
Winning this Award for the Celtics Illustration means so much to me because I dedicated it to my late wife Janet, who we lost to cancer.
She loved the Celtics, and going to the games with me back during the Larry Bird era. She would have been so happy to see them win their 17th world championship. That's why you'll see her name in the bottom right corner for those who have a print or a poster.
This was her Illustration, this is her award.
