The was a warm note about how much he liked my Dana-Farber / Jimmy Fund Holiday Card of the Gillette Stadium and The Patriots. Kevin Champions the fight locally against cancer with his wonderful staff of Doctors and Nurses at Winchester Hospital. The hospital is currently building a new state of the art cancer in Winchester,Ma. The Holiday Cards raised over $450,000 for the Jimmy Fund.

The New England Baseball Journal included me in their 100 greatest players from New England issue, part of the "Grand slam Gallery" of Artists. Cancer effects every family at one time or another, no one escapes this terrible disease. Tom was a great guy, a tremendous friend, and most of all he loved the NFL. A retired New York City Cop, His favorite match-ups were The Patriots vs. the Jets or Giants. This past spring I was asked to paint an Illustration of Gillette Stadium in the snow to be used as one of the 2011 Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and The Jimmy Fund of Boston. My daughter Danielle loved the idea and we talked about how great it would be to dedicate the card in Tom's memory, as the card would be for sale on the 1st anniversary of his passing. I asked the Dana-Farber if this would be possible and they thought it was a great idea. On the back of the card it reads: "In Memory of and for, my friend Tom O'Hehir, who loved Football".

To Purchase Cards:

Cards

To Purchase Ornaments:

Ornaments

I’m still working on painting in the colors. Carlton Fisk is coming to life on this panel, and it’s taking me back to 1975 as I paint. I loved that team and it was probably my favorite Red Sox season. As I paint in the Red Sox colors on the Fisk figure my mind is already working on the background of the piece, that’s the way I am, my brain is always two to three steps ahead of myself when I do any type of artwork. When I’m halfway through a painting or project, in my mind it’s already done, I can visualize it finished. Is that weird? Maybe it is, not sure.

Please check back and I’ll show you the finished Fenway Panel before it’s sent to Sportsworld in Saugus.

Artist signed prints

I was thinking of taking my friend's suggestion and starting a Ebay store where I could sell signed prints, prints that have been signed by athletes and special series low numbered prints in 2011....stay tuned!

MAKING NEW LOOK OLD...YOU CAN DO IT TOO!

Is it old? Or is it new?...Sometimes instead of paying to have a piece of art framed for hundreds of dollars you can make a great frame out of something old kicking around. This is a great example that’s so easy for anyone to do and it looks great. I wanted to make a “throw-back” style frame for this Ted Williams painting that I just finished, I did the painting using black and whites, with some sepia tones added (using a chocolate water color pencil) to give the painting the look of being done back in Ted’s playing days. I wanted to make a nice display if I decide to hang it in a sports show someday, so I needed to have it in the right frame. Now comes the fun crafty part that anyone can do, take an old cellar window (I get lucky and find them in yard sales sometimes) and clean it up using some paint stripper along with some sandpaper. Depending on the shape of the window is in you might have to secure the glass if some of the caulking is missing (I use clear silicone from the hardware store) and just run a bead over the old caulking to hold everything in place. I taped and masked off the glass before spraying the frame of the window with a little “Fenway color green”, just enough to cover whatever old paint you decide to leave in place. Then I like to go over the wood again with sandpaper to achieve the antique look, it’s up to you if you want to paint a coat of varnish over the wood when you’re done, but I didn’t on this job. The finishing touch is to add a hanging hardware to the back, and make sure it’s the right size depending on the weight of your window. Last, just clean the glass on both sides, I tape the original in place and secure it with a couple of staples and you have a really cool (sorry can’t help it, Ted’s frozen these days) throw-back style frame for your project!

She’s so cool… Once in awhile I get to do artwork for someone who’s really got it going on, this time it’s a customized Halloween pumpkin for Boston jewelry designer and fashion expert, Afsoon Lotfy! This Media darling / FaceBook queen is red hot in style with her skull bracelets and skull jewelry that every jet setter to movie star is wearing. The pumpkin is a design that I came up with for her 2010 mega-bash Halloween party. Afsoon’s pumpkin is shown wearing his skullduggerys.com red bracelet.

Go to her Website: www.skullduggerys.com or “friend” her on FaceBook. If you’re really lucky you’ll get your hands on one of her bracelets. If you want to meet Afsoon Lotfy you’ll find her blazing through the Boston and NYC nightlife at big time events, but you’ll need some Skullduggery to get in.

Here's a really nice photo sent to me by the people at Blue Sky Entertainment and Promotions
who help organize the Boston Bruins Charity event " Sturmy's Poker Party.
The photo is of Bruins Star Marco Sturm holding the painting of him scoring the game winning
goal in last January's NHL Winter Classic held at Fenway Park vs. the Flyers.
Marco autographed the original painting, which sold for some pretty decent money
that went to help the kids at Franciscan Childrens Hospital
. I was really happy to do the painting for the event because the Bruins charity events are
just the best Now I just have to do a second version of this
painting for Marco Sturm, he's a big fan of my work.

I’ve realized how bad I am at Blogging. It’s seems so much easier to post things on Facebook and reach people that way, But maybe I’m wrong. Most of my life growing up was spent making personal trips to drop off work to newspapers, magazines, and other clients. The great thing about that is that you made real life contacts and friends. Not that having 200 facebook friends is a bad thing but it’s not the same.

People tell me it’s great to blog, my daughter who is off to college as a journalism student is a wonderful blogger (www.classylittlestylejunkie.com) of fashion with many followers. I’m not the writer she is and never will be, besides the fact I don’t think my life is that interesting, maybe my art is, but on the whole I’m not.

What an amazing thing blogging and Facebook has become, it’s an internet pulpit for the everyday average and not so average person to voice their opinions and goings on of their lives. I’m going to try not to let months go by without postings and maybe I’ll get more followers…or maybe not!

This is a great Boston Bruins Charity event to benefit the Franciscan Hospital for Children. The watercolor painting done for Marco and his event will be autographed by Sturm and framed for this event.
I was asked to illustrate his famous game winning goal for the fund raiser and was so happy to do it. Marco Sturm and his fellow Boston Bruins do so much around the Boston area to help charities it's always an easy decision to help out kids with my artwork. Let's hope the bidding goes very high!
